Stretched Hours and Unstretched Hours
Stretched hours
Instead of taking all your funded hours during term time, you can spread them out over more weeks of the year, including the school holidays. This means you'll use fewer funded hours each week, but you'll benefit from the funding for a longer period.
How we do it?
We stretch the 30 hours funding over 50 weeks of the year, which equates to 22.8 hours per week or 7.6 hours per day.
We stretch the 15 hours universal funding over 50 weeks of the year, which equates to 11.4 hours per week or 3.8 hours per day.
This often suits parents who both work all year round including school holidays and spreads the cost of childcare more evenly throughout the year.
Unstretched hours (term-time only)
The standard way to use funded hours is to take them over the 38 weeks of the school year (aligned with term times).
For example: If you're eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare, you'd typically get those 15 hours per week during term time. If you're eligible for 30 hours, you'd get those 30 hours per week during term time.
Total hours: This equates to a total of 570 hours per year for 15 hours per week or 1140 hours per year for 30 hours per week.
